What is Dishaa?
Dishaa was established as a non-profit organization
in the State of Maryland, USA by Suresh Rajagopalan and Suchitra
Balasubramanian in April 2003. Through Dishaa, we hope to realize the
dreams of the thousands of bright children from low-income and poor
families by giving them the resources to have a proper education. We
also hope to provide facilities, proper training & care to the mentally
and physically challenged children.

registered organization?
In the USA, Dishaa is a federally registered tax-exempt 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization (Tax Id 81-061-5729).

What does
Dishaa do?
At present we at Dishaa
collect funds from friends and general public and provide to the
projects that we have identified in the India. We provide funds to these
organizations for a variety of uses including

Student Sponsorships for Primary/High/Higher Secondary
Schooling

Student Sponsorships for Undergraduate degree programs

Provide mid day meals at the schools we support

Hire teachers with special skills - occupational/speech therapy

Purchase vocational materials used for training disabled
children

Dishaa raise funds?
Dishaa depends on funds from
friends and general public. Dishaa is also registered with a few Fortune
500 companies in the USA for employee matching contributions.
If you work
for a company that matches employee contributions, please let us know
and we will do the needful to get your company’s contribution.

How can I be sure that the
money I send is managed correctly?
This is a primary concern that most of our donors
have. We at Dishaa also have the same concern and that is the primary
reason we handpick the projects that we commit to. We keep in touch with
our projects through regular interaction by phone and email and also
visit to the project sites by our friends in India. We also visit our
projects and spend considerable amount of time during our trips to
India.
